Woodbridge Community Players

OUR MISSION The purpose of WOODBRIDGE COMMUNITY YOUTH PLAYERS, INC. (WCYP) is to enhance the quality of life in Woodbridge, New Jersey by providing quality theater experiences for the residents of Woodbridge, New Jersey and other areas in the State of New Jersey. In addition, our goal is to provide training and education for actors, singers, dancers and others involved in theater productions as we offer opportunities for Woodbridge Township youth (ages 14 - 25) to demonstrate and improve their skills by participating in theatrical productions. OUR HISTORY WOODBRIDGE COMMUNITY YOUTH PLAYERS, INC., a non-profit corporation, was established in 2007 by Ricki Cohn and Beth Amory in response to a need in Woodbridge Township for a community theater. WCYP spent its first two seasons at School #21 in Colonia: both the inaugural 2008 production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and the 2009 production of Godspell played to sold-out audiences from all across New Jersey. In 2010, WCYP was able to move into a much larger venue, making The Hungarian American Club in Port Reading their new home. The new venue allowed WCYP to expand both in audience and cast size for their productions of Grease (2010) and Curtains (2011). From day one, WCYP has received enormous support from Mayor John E. McCormac, Chief of Staff Caroline Ehrlich and the Woodbridge Town Council. The Northfield Bank Foundation has been WCYP’s proud sponsor since 2009. Each year, in addition to the Northfield Bank Foundation, many local businesses and families across Woodbridge Township contribute to the success of each WCYP production.
